Ryan Aftermath

We apologise to the people who may have been upset by the behaviour and display of anger shown by Nigel at the Polling booths.

Nigels trust has long been broken by prohibitions curse, like thousands of other young people. His real troubles began after he was given a permanent criminal record for the tiny amount of o.o3 grams of cannabis some years ago. It is estimated that 10 billion dollars or more was spent in Australia on the drug war. It should all be going into health rehabilitation and real drug education.

Police, social workers and many parents (as well as us) are well used to behaviour like this from the alienated young people drastically affected by prohibition. We have a very serious social health situation from criminalizing and alienating our youth.

Everyone agrees the drug war is lost. Now we must begin healing the huge wounds it has created. Regulation and separation of hard and soft drugs will end so much anger and fear in our communities.

We are encouraged by the hemp vote in one of the most conservative electorates in Australia, and it looks like FreeMarijuana preferences will be vital for a Labor victory.

Labors drug policy appears more compassionate and understanding than the Liberals, but both fall a long long way short of what is required. We believe that there is no more urgent social issue than drug law reform and most heads are still deeply buried in the sand.

For us this was a trial run for the real election later in the year when the Hemp Party will run as many candidates as possible. We urge all interested parties or potential candidates to contact us or come to the annual Mardi Grass Cannabis Law Reform Festival and Forum, 5th and 6th of May in Nimbin NSW.

H.E.M.P. Party lights up for FreeMarijuana PROTEST VOTE.

Nigel FreeeMarijuana, the first candidate to be endorsed by the newly founded Federal H.E.M.P Party, is expecting to capture a significant percentage of anti government protest votes this weekend.

"Everyone knows that the Ryan By -election is almost a farce. In six months time we are going to have to do it all over again and this gives us an ideal opportunity to send a message to Canberra that the time for drug law reform has come."

"If you have ever smoked pot, then you know we are not criminals." Said Nigel, "I am asking you to vote one Free Marijuana on Saturday as a protest, then put a 2 next to labour, liberal or whatever. They’ll get your preference vote anyway and we’ll send a message to Canberra that this is an important issue. We are sick of being criminalised. Even a small percentage of the total vote will send a message to the major political parties that the time has come for a total change of attitude towards cannabis. Drug use is a health issue."

"We are all disgusted by the actions of John Howards cronies in the Jackie Kelly Affair who formed the totally bogus Marijuana Smokers Rights Party, a total sham designed only to collect preferences for the liberals. The new grass roots Australian H.E.M.P. Party intends to run candidates for the senate in the federal election later this year in as many states as possible." Said Michael Balderstone, President of Australian H.E.M.P, travelling on the peacebus. "We are here to prove that Nigel is the real thing."

The Nimbin Hemp Embassies world famous peacebus is in Brisbane to help Free Marijuana. Over the next few days the brightly painted bus, adorned with banners and loud speakers, will be cruising around the electorate "Blues Brothers Style" crewed by Hempsters in convict clothes and hand cuffs. (Great Photo Opportunity) If you see the peacebus, take the opportunity to show your support and honk your horn if you use pot!

MAJOR POT PLOT IN RYAN.

The Plantem, ghost who tokes and hero to millions of Australian pot smokers will make his first appearance in the Ryan by election today. Nigel
FreeMarijuana will introduce the Plantem to one of Brisbanes "Safe Havens" for Cannabis Users, the weekly Queensland University of Technology cannabis market, a stones throw from Parliament House.

"We must regulate cannabis sales" says Nigel. "Pot smokers going to the black market to try to score are offered heroin, speed and other far more dangerous drugs. Let's get real and bring it out into the open, enabling health advise and counselling to reach users."

The Plantem was delighted to inform Nigel that he had discovered a quarter of an acre of cannabis growing in the Ryan Electorate and is offering to take journalists there today.

Nigel says the draconian drug laws are just part of an out dated and old fashioned attitude towards the environment. Making illegal natures most popular medicines, cutting down the rain forest, poisoning the land, the rivers and the air -this attitude is as dead as dinosaurs. If you are not into saving the environment these days you are either an idiot or an ignorant fool.

In his passion for cannabis law reform (and critics should know Nigel has got a permanent criminal record for 0.03 grams of cannabis which drastically changed the course of his life) FreeMarijuana last night phoned his fellow candidates asking them to lay down their swords and give him their first vote, act responsibly for the greater good, and use the occasion to show their compassion for the victims of the war on drug users. A move which would surely end harassment of cannabis users and begin the healing. Nigel says everyone he talked to-except the christian democrats- was understanding and compassionate about his offer, although they declined. In the event of such a thing happening, Nigel says he'd resign from parliament after the laws were changed.

The peacebus will be continuing to do the "Blues Brothers thing" around the streets of the electorate today, in an attempt to reach the real people where they live and work. "We have been getting a huge response when we ask the traffic to "Honk if you Smoke Pot," said Federal H.E.M.P Party President Michael Balderstone.
