The Venerable Santithito is a German born monk now resident at Wat Buddhalavarn, the Lao supported Buddhist forest monastery in Wedderburn, 60 km south west of Sydney, Australia. Thirty five years in robes, the Venerable Santithtito is the most senior ordained Westerner in the Theravadin tradition. At the Bun Pra Wet celebration that took place at Wat Buddlavarn on the weekend of 13-14 March 2005, Santi was venerated in a beautiful ceremony which involved the giving of new robes and a ritual purification in which he was bathed by water poured up him along a dragon spout by the lay devotees.
