AÊprisoner exchange, Howard for Hicks.
"With a resurrected Ned Kelly acting as police liaison, we intend taking Prime Minister John Howard, if not personally then performatively, to the gates of the US Embassy and handing him over," said one of rally organisers Peacebus.com captain, Graeme Dunstan.
"We will be inviting the US military to hold him in chains in Guantanamo Bay as David has been for the past five years and take all the time in the world in formulating charges against Howard for his record of civil liberties abuses in this land and his abandonment of David Hicks," said Dunstan.
"Fair deal, we reckon."Ê
With buses coming from Sydney, the Hicks Canberra Convergence organisers are expecting a crowd of 500 or more.
The rally will begin with a public forum starting 11 am on the lawns of Parliament House.Ê
All elected representatives have been invited to come and speak to the rally about where they stand on the Hicks issue before they enter the House for the opening session of 2007.
The acceptances include Greens Senator Kerry Nettle, Democrats Senators Natasha Stott Despoja & Andrew Bartlett; and ALP Senator Kate Lundy.
When the Parliament assembles at 12.30 pm the rally will become a march to the US Embassy.
